Conference on „Business crime and securing confidential data"
On the 13th April 2010 a conference on "Business crime and securing confidential data" was organised by the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce with the participation of the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing.
Mrs. Georgeta Basarabescu -the Authority's president welcomes the initiative to organise this event on an issue of great interest and underlines the importance of protecting personal data within the public and private sectors at optimum standards.
It is within this context that Mrs. Georgeta Basarabescu expresses her believe that this type of events will continue to be organised in a similar manner to those held in previous years by the Supervisory Authority in close collaboration with the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The event focused on increasing awareness with regard to the observation of the legal provisions on the use of personal data by companies in various fields of activity.
On this occasion, special attention was given to the means used to ensure the confidentiality of personal data and on adequate means to destroy document which contain personal data.
The representatives of the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing have highlighted certain issues referring to the obligations of data controllers, observing the rights on the protection of personal data of each individual, the need to implement adequate security measures for the data processed by companies and the specific regulatory framework in this field.
