Within the Article 29 Working Party Plenary (composed of the representatives of the national data protection authorities of EU Member States), held on the 16th-17th of September 2014, Opinion 8/2014 on the on Recent Developments on the Internet of Things (Internet of Things - IoT) was adopted. This concept refers to an infrastructure which implies an entire ecosystem that has an Internet connection like the SmartTv, smartphones, their applications and other “smart” devices that retain, process and transfer the personal data of their users.
Within the same reunion, certain implications of the Court of Justice of the European Union’s decision of the 13th of May 2014 concerning the “right to be forgotten”, regarding the deletion of data indexed by the search engine Google were discussed and a press release was issued.
On the 17th of September 2014, the Romanian delegation led by the president of NSAPDCP, Anca OPRE, following the invitation of Mr. Giovanni BUTTARELLI, the deputy of the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), attended a working visit to the EDPS.
This meeting was an excellent opportunity to identify the most appropriate forms of cooperation between the two parties, in order to ensure the efficiency of the protection of the rights of the data subjects in terms of processing of personal data.
