EUROPEAN DATA PROTECTION DAY
On the 28th of January 2017 we celebrate the European Data protection Day which corresponds to the anniversary of 36 years since the signing, in Strasbourg, of Convention 108 for the Protection of individuals with regard to automatic processing of personal data – the first legal instruments adopted for the data protection.
The purpose of celebrating this day is to increase the awareness among the general public on the importance of the protection of personal data and of the specific rights that can be exercised.
With this occasion, the national independent data protection authorities from the European states organize specific events.
In honour of the European Data Protection Day, the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing will hold a symposium with the theme “The New General Regulation on Data Protection – implications and effects, at the Parliament’s Palace, on the 27th of January 2017, at 11:00.
